Marvel and “Lost” star Evangeline Lilly revealed she has suffered brain damage after an accident during a trip to Hawaii in May 2025.
The actress, 46, recorded a video on her personal Instagram page on Friday to share her brain scan results.
“It’s late on January 1, the first day of 2026, and I’m entering into this new year — the year of the horse — with some bad news about my concussion,” Lilly stated. “The results came back from the scans, and I missed every area, and my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity. So, I do have brain damage from the TBI [traumatic brain injury], and possibly other factors going on.”
Lilly had shared information about her injury last year.
On May 30, 2025, Lilly posted on her personal Substack that she sustained multiple injuries, including a concussion after fainting at the beach and “falling face-first into a boulder.” The actress went on to explain that she has “had ‘absent’ and fainting spells since [she] was a little girl.” Lilly explained that the source of her “blackouts” has remained a mystery, but the actress attributed it to her “little soul reaching her limit of what she feels she can cope with in this life, and she ‘leaves the building,’ so to speak.”
In an update on June 14, Lilly explained that she experienced a setback in her recovery. “Today, my concussion took a downturn,” the actress explained. “I have been up on my feet for over a week, but I overdid it this weekend,” she wrote on June 14, “too much manual labor out in the punishing Hawaii heat. Too much in general for someone on the mend from a big head injury. So, it’s back to bed rest for a few days.”
The actress stated on Friday that she would be working with doctors to possibly reverse the damage and thanked fans for checking up on her.
