Chevy Chase, the actor and comedian known for projects like National Lampoon’s Vacation, Caddyshack, and Community, took to social media on Jan. 4 to celebrate a special occasion, as his daughter Cydney turned 43.
The father of three posted a rare photo of his daughter in honor of the special day, with Cydney standing in front of a microphone singing as she played the guitar. While her father is known for his on-screen talent, his daughter pursued music as a singer-songwriter.
Chase wrote a sweet message in the caption, saying, “This is my beautiful daughter, @cydneycchase , who I like to call Nini, singing beautiful songs! It’s her birthday today!! Happy Birthday my darling!!”
Cydney replied in the comments, revealing her cute nickname for Chase as she said, “Aww, thanks Dabby lol love you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️.”
Fans shared well-wishes for Chase’s daughter on her birthday, with one writing, “Happy birthday, @cydneycchase many best wishes for a wonderful day!”

Cydney’s birthday comes only days after a new documentary about her father aired on CNN called I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not. In the film, which is set to premiere on HBO Max on Jan. 31, Chase, his family, and his friends talk about his life and career in personal interviews, with Cydney featured in the film.
Quite a few fans took to the comments on Chase’s birthday tribute to his daughter to praise her for her comments in the documentary.
“Happy Birthday beautiful @cydneycchase !! ENJOY!! 🥳 BTW-Loved seeing you speak out for your dad in the CNN doc!!” said one such fan, while another commented, “Happy Birthday Nini!!! Really love how you supported your dad in the CNN documentary ❤️.”
Along with Cydney, Chase and his wife Jayni also share two other daughters, Caley and Emily. The longtime couple has been married since 1982.
Chase was married twice before dating Jayni, first to Susan Hewitt between 1973 and 1976, and then to Jacqueline Carlin from 1976 to 1980. He didn’t have children with either Hewitt or Carlin.
