Is Olivia Rodrigo releasing new music this week?

On Monday, Jan. 5, fans noticed Rodrigo locked her official store website. On the site, visitors are immediately met with a message mirroring a driver’s license renewal application — a nod to her debut single “drivers license.”

At the bottom of the site, the “appointment time” is listed as Jan. 8, 2026 at 9 a.m. PST — which happens to be the five-year anniversary of the breakout song. Fans were also given the option to provide their email to receive updates on the mystery project.

Eagle-eyed followers on Instagram also noticed that the singer’s official fan account, @livieshq, put a red heart emoji in their bio, a possible hint at the theme and color of her next album.

If the 22-year-old pop star drops an album on Thursday, it would be her third studio album following 2021’s Sour and 2023’s Guts. Following the release of Sour, Rodrigo won the awards for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance for “drivers license” at the Grammy Awards in 2022.

The potential new music also comes on the heels of unconfirmed rumors that Rodrigo recently called it quits with her boyfriend of two years, Enola Holmes actor Louis Partridge.

Rodrigo first rose to fame as an actress on Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark before joining the Disney Plus show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in 2019.

While filming HSMTMTS, which she starred in until 2022, Rodrigo met Joshua Bassett. “drivers license” is rumored to be about Rodrigo’s teenage relationship with Bassett, their breakup, and his subsequent romance with Sabrina Carpenter.
