Spanish film director JA Bayona posted the video on Instagram and criticized the way Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho and French producer Emilie Lesclaux were told that their Portuguese language film The Secret Agent had won the award for Best Foreign Language Film in the middle of a red carpet interview and then not even given a moment to speak before wrapping up the segment. He talked about how American award shows disrespect non-English language films and treat them as secondary, or less deserving of respect.
