Zoe Saldaña has become the highest-grossing actor of all time.

The 47-year-old Oscar winner has overtaken Scarlett Johansson after the success of Avatar: Fire and Ash added more than $1.2bn to her total. Saldaña’s films have now made more than $15.46bn worldwide, according to the Numbers.

The number has been achieved thanks to Saldaña’s previous Avatar films and her Marvel role as Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and the Avengers movies. Saldaña has also found hits with the Star Trek movies and the first Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Last year saw Johansson rise to the top after Jurassic World Rebirth made $869m worldwide. The actor has also appeared in multiple Marvel films.

Avatar: Fire and Ash has been tracking behind the previous films in the franchise at the box office but has remained at the domestic No 1 spot since its release in December. Saldaña also added her voice to last summer’s Pixar adventure Elio, but the film underperformed.

Last year saw Saldaña win the best supporting actress Oscar for her role in Netflix crime musical Emilia Pérez and she is now working on the next season of action drama series Lioness.

While Avatar’s director, James Cameron, has the next two films planned out, there is yet to be any official confirmation. “If we don’t get to make 4 and 5, for whatever reason, I’ll hold a press conference and I’ll tell you what we were gonna do,” he said last month. “How’s that?”

According to the Numbers, the two actors are followed by Samuel L Jackson, Robert Downey Jr and Chris Pratt, who have all also starred in multiple Marvel projects.

The highest-grossing actors who haven’t starred in Marvel films on the list are, in order, Tom Cruise, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Tom Hanks. After Saldaña and Johansson, the next highest ranked female actors on the list are Emma Watson at No 16, Karen Gillan at 23 and Elizabeth Olsen at 25.
