It’s Becoming A Thing
Tessa Thompson and Balenciaga continues to be fruitful. There was no obvious history linking them, even during Piccioli’s Valentino era, yet here we are. And it works. The silhouette is simple, with the embellishments doing all the heavy lifting, ensuring it is worthy of her presence. I am enjoying this chapter, but let’s not rush to lock it in. I still want Tessa to roam freely. Bvlgari rings completed her look.

Chase Sui Wonders’ Balenciaga gown immediately brought Taylor Russell’s Balenciaga Haute Couture Bones and All Venice Film Festival moment to mind, not in style or silhouette, but in colour and fabric. That same liquid richness is doing the heavy lifting here. It is dramatic without trying too hard, which suits Chase perfectly. Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. Hands necklace and Flame ear clips completed her look.

Curveball Moment
One of the biggest surprises of the night was Laufey. Known for her eclectic, boho, vintage leaning style, this open back Balenciaga gown was an unexpected direction. The colour is beautiful, and I don’t mind the sheerness, but the black pumps didn’t make sense here. They feel disconnected from the rest of the story. So thankfully, they are barely seen.

Gloves Gone Wrong
Opera gloves were everywhere on the Spring 2026 Balenciaga runway, but that does not mean they belong on every look that hits the red carpet. On Leslie Mann, they actively work against the dress. The gloves drain the energy instead of adding to it, and the look never quite recovers for me.
