Army of Darkness actor Marcus Gilbert passed away on Sunday after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 67.
The Marcus Gilbert Fansite shared the sad news, stating, “We, along with his many fans worldwide, will mourn his loss, and remember the joy he gave us on screen, and in person.”
Horror fans will recognize the British actor as Lord Arthur, who battled the Deadites alongside Ash in Army of Darkness.
Gilbert discussed his experience on the cult classic film in Medieval Times: The Making of Army Of Darkness, a featurette produced for Scream Factory’s Blu-ray in 2015.
His other notable credits include an ill-fated Soviet helicopter pilot in Rambo III and a four-episode arc on “Doctor Who” during Sylvester McCoy’s run as the seventh Doctor.
Gilbert was among the actors considered for James Bond after Roger Moore vacated the iconic role in the mid ’80s, though Timothy Dalton was ultimately cast.
