Isla Fisher Tries British & Australian Food | Snack Wars

#AD Isla Fisher takes on LADbible’s Snack Wars, putting iconic British bites head-to-head with classic Australian treats to see which country really rules the snack game, with a little help from Gemini. From chewy red lolly snakes and nostalgic fairy bread going up against old-school boiled sweets and delicate cucumber sandwiches, Isla gives her honest, hilarious verdicts on these iconic foods.

In this episode, Isla also comes face to face with jellied eels for the very first time and finally discovers exactly what they are. She rounds things off by trying a traditional British trifle before dreaming up her ultimate savoury trifle creation, again powered by Gemini.

  1. Firstly, she's lived in the UK for years she'll have heard of most of those, especially the spotted dick and she'd absolutely know what custard is.
Secondly, thats a sponge cake with currents that not a spotted dick. Spotted dick is a suet pudding that has been steamed for hours. When its ready, it's looks bright white and a little slimey. Best served hot with lashings of syrup and custard, done properly, it's bloody lovely

  2. Are you sponsored by someone who produces Jellied Eels or something? Give it 20 years and NOBODY will still be eating it – currently it's very much an older generation thing.

  3. Lamington is traditional Australian stuff?! Boy, I grew up eating it at every holiday, except it was smaller and "dipped" in different toppings. It had the usual, coconut, but also came with crushed walnut or peanut. We call it "tavalita".
