According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle discussed their royal escape in 2018 at a royal gathering.
Hickling said in Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, Meghan told Harry to “take advantage of the situation” before noticing the royals surrounding them.

Nicola Hickling then claimed that Prince Harry asked Meghan Markle, “Today?” as before the Duchess of Sussex added, “Do it tonight.”
“You do realise that this is the end?” Harry allegedly asked.
“Yeah, I do know,” Meghan said, according to Hickling.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the U.K., Buckingham Palace painted their move as an amicable decision.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are grateful to Her Majesty and the Royal Family for their ongoing support as they embark on the next chapter of their lives,” the Palace said in a statement.
