Strictly Come Dancing’s head judge, Shirley Ballas, was rushed to hospital amid concerns she fractured her skull in a terrifying accident. The television personality was taken to the hospital after falling backwards and striking her head on a glass table. Medical professionals conducted a brain scan following the incident. After the frightening ordeal, Shirley shared an update on social media. In a post on her Instagram story, she said: “Thank you to all who reached out to see how I’m doing. Scary fall backwards, hitting my head on the glass dressing table. Trip to the hospital to get a brain scan.

“Fortunately for me, no cracked skull,” she reassured fans. “I’ll rest for a few days to heal my neck and back. Hugs, thank you to @barbara_mccoll for getting my emergency appointment to Sammy Stopford for taking me, and sitting with me all day.”

She concluded the message with: “Gratitude as the Dr said I was very lucky,” before signing off with a heart emoji.

This alarming event follows the TV judge’s recent announcement that she is ready to start dating again, nearly two years after her breakup.

Shirley had been in a relationship with Danny Taylor, whom she met while performing in a pantomime, for six years before they separated in 2024.

She told Daily Mail earlier this month: “I may have had a date or two. I know my truth. I know my authentic self, and if I want to go out on a date, I will go. Nothing serious. No labels, no tags.”

However, dating may have to take a back seat as Shirly is about to embark on the Strictly live arena tour for 30 shows with stars from the last series taking part.

She added: “I feel I should give as much time as I can to those people who come to see us and make them feel special, because if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have a show like we’ve got.”
