The countdown to the 98th Academy Awards has begun, and Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks are announcing the 2026 Oscar nominations Thursday morning.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” is expected to be the major frontrunner after it won four Golden Globes earlier this month. It took home best motion picture – drama, supporting actress for Teyana Taylor, and Anderson won best director and screenplay. Taylor and her co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro are also in the mix for Oscar recognition, in addition to many of the film’s artisans.

Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” a vampire drama set in the 1930s South, is also predicted to be a major Oscar player. It’s expected to land Oscar noms for stars Michael B. Jordan and Wunmi Mosaku, Coogler’s original screenplay and several below-the-line categories. According to Variety’s awards editor Clayton Davis, “Sinners” could land as many as 15 nods, which would break the all-time record for Oscar nominations currently held by “All About Eve,” “Titanic” and “La La Land.”

Conan O’Brien returns to host the 2026 Oscars on March 15. The ceremony will air at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.
