The royal rift between Prince William and Prince Harry has gone on long enough, King Charles has declared! And apparently he’s hoping that his daughter-in-law, Princess Catherine of Wales (affectionately known as Kate Middleton) can be the lynchpin to make a resolution happen.

Previous reports stated that William and Kate were very much not in favour of welcoming Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, back into the fold (they’re all about a drama-free life, don’t you know) after their tell-all Oprah interview, a tell-all memoir and a tell-all Netflix documentary, which was less than complimentary.

Now, Charles is said to have made 2026 his year of reconciliation and hopes that Harry and Meghan’s upcoming visit to the UK this summer will be a catalyst for change – and is letting Kate know she needs to get William on board with that.

Everyone’s clicking on…

As reported by Closer, a royal insider has claimed Charles knows he can’t make this happen alone, and William’s stubborn refusal to allow Harry back into his life can only be swayed by his wife, the Princess of Wales.

“Kate is literally his only hope at this point and he’s let her know in no uncertain terms that he’s counting on her,” the source says. “He’s not framing this as an order, but it’s pretty clear that’s what this is. He wants this visit handled in a way that doesn’t make things any worse.

“And not just within the family, the public will be watching very closely; they need to think about the optics. Letting this ugly family feud rage on is a terrible look for the Monarchy and Charles says Kate understands that better than anyone and knows how to rise above personal feelings when duty calls.”

The King has been reflecting on how short life is, the anonymous insider added: “He’s dealing with serious health issues while running the monarchy and he genuinely feels like this family infighting is ridiculous in the grand scheme of things.

“He acknowledges that Harry and Meghan have made a lot of missteps, but he’s willing to forgive them.”

Elsewhere, King Charles has been celebrating the release of his intensely personal new documentary, Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision, which puts his passion for climate justice and the environment centre stage – at a time when many powerful figures in the world are denouncing climate change as a hoax.

Never a dull day, eh?
