Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has revealed a surprising feud with former co-star Ryan Thomas while they were on the soap together. The actor famously played the role of Rosie Webster opposite Ryan’s Jason Grimshaw.
The pair’s characters were romantically involved, though Helen has claimed in her new book Head & Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns and Being Rosie that the two had a less positive relationship offscreen.
“Me and Ryan Thomas, who played Jason, weren’t on the best of terms in real life either – we used to clash something chronic, mainly because he would be dead grumpy in the mornings and never used to know his lines!” she writes (via The Sun).
“I probably needed to lighten up a little bit, but he once told me outright that he didn’t like me and I told him to f**k off (mature of me).”
Helen went on to confirm that things had improved in recent years after crossing paths with Ryan and his siblings.

“Over the years since, however, we’ve moved in similar circles and become quite good friends and I’ve got a lot of time for Ryan and his brothers, Adam and Scott,” she explains. “They’re good lads.”
Digital Spy has reached out to Ryan’s representatives for comment.

Elsewhere, Helen has criticised Coronation Street for how it handled scenes for her character amid a grooming storyline when she was a teenager.
“Was it morally right that I was expected to parade about in my knickers like some mad nymphomaniac when I was still just a teenager?” she told The Mirror.
“Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, once kicked off in the green room, saying how disgusting it was that they were sexualising me when I was a young girl. I didn’t fully comprehend what she was talking about at the time. I do now. I get it.”
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
