In news that can only be described as “now that’s what you call random,” Kim Kardashian is opening up about a truly interesting moment from her teenage years. And in a plot twist that no one saw coming, it somehow involves veteran actor Wesley Snipes. Don’t worry, we’ll get into it!
Sitting down for a new interview with her sister Khloé Kardashian for her “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast, Kim explained how she ran into the actor when she was a teenager living in New York City years ago. She detailed how the “Blade” actor saved her life after she got stranded at a random house party and that she’s never shared the story with the actor before.
“I just want to start it off with: Wesley Snipes saved my life,” Kim said. “And he doesn’t know this story. He has no clue who I was.”
The reality TV star went on to share how she and her friends were out and about at a club called Life one night. Afterwards, they decided to go to one of the friend’s place for a house party, but split up while attempting to get there. Kim said that one person wrote the address for the party on her hand and gave her $20 for cab fare “in case they lose each other.” (Keep in mind, this was the pre-cell phone era—when pay phones were your only lifeline and being lost actually meant being unreachable). Having never gone into NYC by herself before that night or taken a cab before, the experience left her feeling like a fish out of water.
That feeling would only be amplified after the house party went into the wee hours of the night and she found herself alone and sober, but without any of the money she’d stashed away. Thankfully, that’s when Snipes eventually entered the picture.
“So, at the end of the night, it’s like 5 a.m., we’re at this house party, no one to be found. [I] cannot find anyone. Don’t have my money. [I] realize my $20 is gone. All I have is this address,” Kim said. “I’m walking out, and I don’t know if Wesley Snipes lived in the building or what, but he was there. We were passing each other, and I was like, ‘Hi, sir. I’m so sorry, but do you think you can give me a ride home?’”
Kim went on to say that the actor never gave off “any creepy vibes” and obliged her request and took her out for breakfast before dropping her off. That’s when Khloe chimed in and joked that Snipes did that because he probably assumed she was some drunk, young kid who needed to sober up.
While Kim maintained that she was sober the entire time, she didn’t dismiss Khloe’s perspective entirely and then shared that she may have been right considering how the actor talked to her while they were eating.
Describing how the “White Men Can’t Jump” star began “schooling” her like he was her father, Kim recalled Snipes telling her: “‘I don’t know how old you are, but you’re too young to be out this late. You’re too young to be at parties, if there was a house party there or whatever… You shouldn’t be out at the clubs. You shouldn’t be at these things. I’m going to take you home, and I never want to see you out at these things until you’re old enough.’”
Funny enough, Kim said that she never ran into Snipes after that night and expressed her desire to cross paths with him again to let him know how he showed up for her in her time of need.
“I’ve never seen him again,” Kim said. “He saved my life. He schooled the sh*t out of me. Scared me to death about being at club because [after] I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ll never be at a club again.’ Shout out to Wesley Snipes, I hope this message gets to you that you are a lifesaver!”
