Looking for something recently added to Prime Video to watch this week? You’re in luck, the Amazon-owned streaming service typically adds dozens of new movies on the first of every month, and with Feb. 1 falling on a Sunday, this weekend comes with a load of worthwhile choices.
Of course, decision paralysis is a real thing. While having dozens of new to Prime Video movies to pick from might sound great on paper, you could find yourself spending more time scrolling through the platform’s library than actually streaming movies.
That’s why I’ve collected my top picks of the many new arrivals. Here are the Prime Video movies that you should watch first this weekend.

‘The Big Lebowski’ (1998)

One of the most quotable movies of all time, and a treasure trove of iconic scenes (many of which have become iconic reaction gifs), “The Big Lebowski” is a glorious showcase of the Coen Brothers’ sharp comedic writing. Packing an all-star cast including Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi and John Turturro, this crime comedy is a hoot.
Jeffery Lebowski is a slacker and keen bowler, who goes by the nickname “The Dude.” After a case of mistaken identity, he’s attacked in his home by two criminal enforcers, and adding insult to injury, one urinates on his rug. Finding out the intended target was a millionaire who owes some bad people a lot of money, and happens to share The Dude’s name, he set off on a quest through the L.A. underworld to get compensation for his damaged property.

‘La La Land’ (2016)

“La La Land” is a joyful musical that feels decidedly modern but also pays fond tribute to the golden age of cinema. It’s an extraordinary balancing act, and writer/director Damien Chazelle pulls it off nearly flawlessly. The original songs are toe-tapping, the sight and sounds of L.A. are vivid, and the leads, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, are hugely endearing, and their budding romance is worth getting invested in. It’s a real crowd-pleaser.
Sebastian (Gosling) is a restaurant pianist with dreams of opening his own jazz club, while Mia (Stone) is an aspiring actress struggling to find her place in a competitive industry. After an unexpected meeting, their initial frostiness melts into a real connection, but as their dreams become real possibilities, they are forced to choose between love and career.

‘The Grey’ (2011)

“The Grey” is a chilly survival thriller in which Liam Neeson faces extreme temperatures, a challenging trek through the snowy wilderness, and a pack of hungry wolves. While it’s not as action-packed as some of the actors’ recent work, it’s a hugely compelling watch, and does an excellent job ratcheting up the stakes and the tension. Underneath the survival drama thrills, it also asks some thoughtful questions about finding something worth living for.
John Ottway (Neeson) is an oil refinery worker, flying home with some of his hardworking crew for a much-needed break. However, when their plane crashes in the Alaskan wilderness, only eight men survive. Trapped in a frozen wasteland, dealing with serious injuries from the crash, they seek a route back to civilization while being hunted by a pack of wolves.
