Renowned Ghanaian journalist Israel Laryea has shared his thoughts on the recent back-and-forth involving his wife, Louisa Laryea, and GHOne TV journalist Lily Mohammed.

The controversy began after Lily Mohammed stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had blatantly erred in plans to issue a Ghanaian passport to American streamer IShowSpeed “on a silver platter.”

In response, Louisa Laryea took to Facebook to call out Lily over the comments.

Louisa’s response, however, was widely criticised as harsh and laced with body-shaming statements, sparking backlash from many social media users, including media personality Nana Aba Anamoah.

Amid the public reaction, Israel Laryea has finally weighed in, sharing his perspective on the matter in a recent Instagram post.

According to the journalist, after having a conversation with his wife, she indicated that her statement was not meant to body-shame Lily Mohammed.

“Louisa and I have had conversations about her post that went viral and caused a troll storm, and I got her to appreciate a few things, one of them being that there’s one thing about what you say and another about how people interpret it.

“She, however, explains that she never meant to body-shame anyone. Unfortunately, we can all agree that you can’t control how people choose to interpret a post. Louisa further clarifies that she never sought to infer that Lily Mohammed had bleached or undergone BBL because she does not know her,” he said.

Isreal Laryea also apologised to Lily Mohammed if she felt offended by his wife’s post.

“If Lily felt offended, sorry, but that was definitely not the intention. I’ve also read posts and comments about my marriage. To those people, I’d say focus on your marriage if you have one or when you enter one,” he wrote.

He also addressed individuals labelling his wife ugly adding that several others criticising his marriage should focus on theirs.

“There are also those who say Louisa is ugly. Really? This woman, right here at 52 years old, after giving birth to three children, is ugly? Create a human, let’s see how you fare. Finally, to the ‘friends’ who joined the trolling or fuelled it, what real friends would do is reach out privately to obtain some context or seek to correct, if necessary,” he added.
