Brittany Mahomes is going all-out for her kids amid the heavy snow in the Midwest.
On Monday, Feb. 2, the mom-of-three shared a sweet video on Instagram showing off the Mahomes’ family’s snowstorm activities — which included their recreation of a viral rainbow igloo featuring multicolored blocks of ice that took multiple days to complete.
“When you see this idea on instagram and think it’s a good idea to do, it’s really important….” she teased in the video, “that you should probably think again😂.”
The sped-up video shows Mahomes, 30, getting her kids’ help to fill up dozens of aluminum trays with water and food dye to create the blocks of ice — before leaving them outside for five days to freeze in the snowy weather.

“Had to refill them and refreeze them… so now starting to build the igloo,” she explained.
The whole family can then be seen getting involved in the assembly process, including Brittany and husband Patrick Mahomes’s daughters, Sterling Skye, 4, Golden Raye, 12 months, and son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, 3, working together to stack the blocks of ice and hold them together using water.
The building process took two days in total — and by the end, the backyard igloo was so large that Sterling and Bronze could stroll inside and stand up to smile and pose for the camera.
“Just a couple rookies trying to show you the whole process of how to build an igloo…😂😅 would say we will do better next time but there will never be a next time🙂,” Brittany wrote in the caption, as Patrick, 30, chimed in: “Best mom out there!! ❤️❤️.”

The TikTok trend of creating a colorful outdoor project amid the heavy winter storms that have hit the U.S. was started by a family in Minnesota, who built a 12-foot rainbow igloo using more than 700 ice blocks.
Speaking to PEOPLE about the project, Brett Ashbach, 42, and his wife Laura, 39, shared that the project took about 60 hours of work per adult, involved their kids from the start and turned into a neighborhood attraction lit from within at night — and it eventually garnered millions of views online.
“When the light hit it just right, it looked almost like stained glass,” Laura told PEOPLE of the finished project. “The glow was absolutely magical.”
Once finished, the Ashbachs celebrated by inviting friends, family and neighbors over for an igloo party — complete with hot chocolate, a bonfire, s’mores and even pizza delivered straight to the igloo.
“Having the right weather, and the time to take advantage of it, is absolutely essential for a project like this,” the creator added.

As for the Kansas City Current co-owner’s winter season, the Mahomes family has shared tons of footage online showing just how much fun her and her NFL player husband’s kids had during the recent snowfall.
In a series of photos on her Instagram Stories shared in early December, Brittany shared a look at her two older children attempting to make snow angels while in their winter gear.
In November, the family celebrated Thanksgiving by sharing an official family photo in celebration of the holiday, with the family of five posing in their fall finest.
The photos showed the Mahomes family laughing as the three little children played together. One adorable shot of the siblings showed Golden carefully perched on big sister Sterling’s lap as Bronze leaned in toward them.
“Happy Thanksgiving🤎,” Brittany captioned the shots.
