At last month’s Golden Globes ceremony, Mark Ruffalo spoke out against Donald Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). On the red carpet, he wore a badge calling for the removal of ICE, and also branded the US President “the worst human being.”
Since then, fans have been concerned about the impact Mark’s political stance might have on his career. And now, he’s spoken out about rumors he’s been fired from Disney because of it.
Mark Ruffalo spoke out about rumors he had been fired from Disney’s MCU
While promoting his new movie, Crime 101, Mark was asked by a reporter at The News Movement if he’s “leaving” Disney.
“Not that I know of,” he replied with a smile. “People keep going like, ‘Did you get fired?’” he added, before reiterating, “Not that I know of!”
“It’s nonsense,” interjected his co-star, Chris Hemsworth.
“I’ll be there as long as they’ll have me,” Mark added of his future at Disney. “I have a good relationship with them,” he continued, pointing to the many, many Disney movies he’s starred in.
“I love that man,” someone said on Instagram in response to the interview. “We’d all protest, we love you MR,” added another fan.
Mark is not the only celebrity to call out the President and ICE of late. Famous faces, including Ariana Grande and Ariana Madix, have both criticized recent events – as did Bad Bunny when accepting his Grammy Award over the weekend.
“Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out,” he said on stage. “We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens – we’re humans.”
The musician, who is due to play the Super Bowl Halftime Show this weekend, went on: “The only thing that’s more powerful than hate is love, so, please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love.”
