Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana have broken their silence on their new son-in-law’s ongoing feud with his estranged family. He claims that they have “done nothing wrong” and have been hurt by accusations that they added to the ongoing rift
Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty married the chef’s daughter Holly Ramsay on December 27 at a beautiful ceremony at Bath Abbey. While the majority of Holly’s family and friends were in attendance, a severe lack of Adam’s relatives were invited to the nuptials.
Ahead of the wedding, Adam’s estranged mother Caroline was outraged when she was not invited to her daughter-in-laws lavish hen weekend at Soho Farmhouse. As the feud simmered between Caroline and her son, she ended up being uninvited to the wedding altogether.
It was reported that Adam did invite his father to the nuptials, but he would need to watch from the back of the church. Following his invitation decline, Adam’s sole family representative was his sister Bethany, who was one of Holly’s bridesmaids.
Following this family drama, it appeared as though father-of-the-bride Gordon stirred the pot a bit in his speech. While he complimented Holly on how beautiful she looked, he went on to add that his wife Tana “will be a good mum to them both”.
While some have seen this as a snub to Adam’s family, the Scottish chef admits that he hasn’t done anything wrong and never displayed any rudeness or ignorance to the swimmer’s relatives.

Speaking to the MailOnline, he said: “It’s just upsetting. It’s all self-inflicted from their side, because we’ve done nothing – none of what you’ve read: no rudeness, no ignorance – we welcomed them.
“We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty. So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously.”
While the accusations have been upsetting for the couple, Gordon has said that he would like to visit Adam’s parents and draw a line under the sand.
He was clear in that fact that both Adam and Holly did not want his family to attend to disrupt their day and that it is their job as parents to accept and respect that decision.
Since the nuptials, Adam and Holly have been seen to be enjoying their honeymoon in Mauritius. Posting a snap of the pair snuggled up close by the pool, Adam wrote: “Honeymoon so far featuring palm trees!”
Gordon was also noted to have left in tears on his daughter’s wedding day. While he joked that it was the price of the dress that made his eyes water, he added that he was overwhelmed seeing his little girl transform into a woman.
Speaking to Jennifer Hudson on her US TV show, he said: “I was very emotional. I was crying because I realized how expensive the dress was there. That is when it suddenly hit me. It was quite an emotional moment.
“We have six kids – three girls, three boys. Her mother Tana is amazing. But seeing your daughter there for the first time when you come down (the stairs of the venue) and you just see this little girl just transforms into this amazing lady. It just gets you.”
However, he did say that his dancing skills weren’t up to par at the reception at Kin House. He said: “I can’t dance for s*** – size 15 feet. I even struggled dancing at the wedding because they are huge feet.”
