Although Season 4 of The White Lotus is headed to the south of France, creator Mike White has to survive Fiji first.
The 3x Emmy winner recently gave an update on the status of his HBO anthology series as he returned to CBS for Survivor 50, noting that he hasn’t begun writing the script for the fourth season.
“No, so after we play the game, I’m gonna start scouting for Season 4, so I don’t even know where it’s shooting,” White told TVLine.
Following the continued success of last year’s Thailand-set Season 3, White noted that he almost wasn’t available to return to the reality competition series. “Weirdly, if it had happened in any other time in the last five years, I just would not have been available. But when they told me the dates, I was like, ‘I could actually do that,’” he explained.
“I love my show, obviously, and I’m excited to go back to it, but it’s nice to think about something else, do something different, get out of my head, my little world,” added White. “Survivor 50 is such a huge event for so many people I know who are involved in the show, who were in the show, and also for me. So I just felt like this was a party invite that was pretty exclusive and I was like, ‘I can’t pass this up.’”

A friend of host Jeff Probst, White’s current stint on the CBS series comes after he competed on Survivor: David vs. Goliath in 2018, coming in as the runner-up to winner Nick Wilson. He and his dad Mel have also competed on CBS’s The Amazing Race twice.
With Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez selected as the location for Season 4 of The White Lotus, Chris Messina, Helena Bonham Carter, AJ Michalka, Alexander Ludwig, Steve Coogan, Marissa Long and Caleb Jonte Edwards have been cast in the ensemble.
