The organization has urged OTT platforms and producer bodies to reject provocative titles, emphasizing the film industry’s responsibility to avoid promoting hatred or unrest. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees, also known as FWICE, has written directly to the popular OTT platform that is hosting Manoj Bajpayee’s latest project, ‘Ghooskhor Pandat.’ The notice comes after the controversy and public backlash that the trailer faced after its release.

FWICE objects to ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’

As per IANS reports, the ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ is facing major backlash after its trailer and title were released online. FWICE has objected to the official title of Manoj Bajpayee’s project. They directly addressed various OTT platforms about their concerns over the title. They began their statement by saying, “FWICE and all its affiliated associations strongly object to the use of this title, as it appears to single out and target a particular community and its traditional means of livelihood in a derogatory and offensive manner. Such a title has the potential to hurt sentiments, provoke misunderstanding, and disturb social harmony”.The organization further stated that there should be no division or issue on the basis of themes of “caste, creed, religion, or profession.” Further on, they added, “The film industry, being a powerful medium of expression, carries a moral and social responsibility to ensure that its content and titles.do not promote hatred, disrespect, or unrest among citizens. We therefore appeal to all producer bodies to refrain from allowing the registration or continuation of film titles that are provocative in nature and capable of creating unrest among Indians.”They condemned the title of the project and expressed that the production house behind it should strongly consider changing it as soon as possible. A case against the film has also been filed in the Delhi High Court, as many have alleged online that the title is targeting the Brahmin community.
