NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Mystic Krewe of Barkus held its traditional feast for the king and queen Thursday, honoring King Jojo Kravitz and Queen Drift Torres with champagne toasts and canine cuisine at Galatoire’s.
King Jojo is the son of Grammy Award-winning Lenny Kravitz. Queen Drift is the daughter of Sidney Torres, owner of IV Waste.
Both dogs are known as “potcake” breeds, which means mixed.
“Potcakes are different breeds; they bring them to mate. There’s different breeds that go through and they get mixed in… making a pot like making a gumbo. Like a potcake,” Torres said.
The celebrity grand marshal is Mayor Moreno’s dog, Nacho. Barkus will parade on Sunday at 1 p.m., starting at Armstrong Park.
