Former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney’s movie debut has officially been released in the UK, premiering straight into a streaming service. The Robbie Jackson actor stars in “offbeat action comedy” Reckless, alongside Vinnie Jones and Scott Adkins.

As per the official synopsis, the plot goes as follows: “A former convict on parole must outwit the police to get his share of an old heist.”

Gaffney plays a character called Willmott, a henchman working for Jones’ crime boss Trent.

Late into the film, he gets to step up and deliver an interrogation – plus a punch or two, and a fair few F-bombs – while on a merry-go-round, of all places.

Also in the cast, we’ve got Doctor Who’s Susan Twist, Unforgotten’s Jordan Long, and martial artist/sometimes actor and Coronation Street/Deadpool & Wolverine stuntman Mark Strange.

The film is now available on Sky and NOW with a Cinema subscription, and at the time of writing is actually airing on the channel Sky Cinema Premiere.

A week before the film release, Gaffney posted about it on his Instagram, calling his pairing with Jones the “best double act since DeVito and Schwarzenegger”.

“Excited to have worked with such a talented and friendly group of actors on this project”, he wrote, adding: “A special thank you to [director Elliott Montello] for guiding me through my first feature.”

Back in 2023, Gaffney took part in the all-stars show I’m a Celebrity… South Africa, having initially appeared in the 2006 season.

He was also on standby for the 2020 season, set in Wales, and credited the routine health check that the team made him go through for saving his life.

Reckless is available to stream now on Sky and NOW with a Cinema subscription, and airs on the Sky Cinema Premiere channel.

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
