Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle‘s ongoing feud began before the Sussexes made their now-infamous royal exit, and it sounds like the Princess Wales feels like it’s gone on long enough. A royal source told Radar Online that Kate really wants to turn Meghan into her “ally” rather than her enemy — so much, in fact, that she’s made it her goal for 2026.
Kate reportedly wants a fresh start with her sister-in-law.
The source claiming to be close to Kate told the outlet that she’s really hoping to find more “peace” in the coming year, and that includes her family’s feud.
“Kate has nothing but peace and love in her heart moving into 2026,” the insider said. “She’s willing to open up dialogue with Meghan after years of giving her the silent treatment, even if Prince William thinks it’s a terrible idea.”
Bringing Prince William and Prince Harry together again is also part of her mission.
Reportedly, Kate knows that she and William won’t be able to repair their relationship with Harry if they can’t get Meghan on board, which might be why she’s decided to approach her to ask for a ceasefire first.
“She’s painfully aware there’s no path to Harry without getting Meghan’s blessing,” the source said. “That’s why she’s working with her staff to figure out a viable approach to Meghan.”
They added, “[Kate] has made it her mission to reunite Harry and William. It breaks her heart that the boys aren’t on speaking terms.”
Considering how close they once were, it really is heartbreaking to see how long they’ve been estranged.
Meghan may not be into the idea at first, but there’s one important thing that could change her mind.
The source added that after everything that has happened between Meghan and the royal family, she may not be as open to reconciliation as her sister-in-law is, and she may even find it “difficult for her to forgive Kate.” But the one thing that could change her mind? The chance to give kids Archie and Lili a relationship with their cousins, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
“Meghan is incredibly sad her children don’t know their cousins, and vice versa. That in itself is a perfect starting point,” the insider claimed.
Meanwhile, it seems like befriending Meghan and putting the family back together again is a top priority for Kate. The source said, “Kate has no plans to make Meghan a close friend. But she does feel William and Harry’s chances of making up would be greater if she and Meghan are able to find common ground.”
