A popular pie and mash shop is loved by locals and celebs – including an England football legend. Tony’s Pie and Mash is a popular spot in Waltham Abbey.
It was even visited by Sir David Beckham earlier this week, who brought signed Beckham and Messi football shirts for the shop to display. The talented footballer popped in for a bite to eat with his mum, Sandra, and sister, Joanne.
The eatery shared some snaps on social media of Sir David posing alongside staff at the restaurant. The footballer also shared a selfie picture alongside his family during the visit.
Becks posted: “Nothing better for the soul than Pie & Mash with mum. Love you mum.”
Tony’s Pie and Mash added: “Sir David Beckham coming to visit never gets old! So lovely to see Sir David and his family today for lunch, AND he brought along an amazing gift too!
“Thank you for the new Beckham and Messi signed shirts. We can’t wait to display them proudly in the shop. Sandra and Jo, it’s always lovely to see you too.”
It’s not the first time that Sir David has paid a visit to Tony’s in Waltham Abbey. The legendary footballer made a trip to the shop last year for a ‘special moment’ not long after he was named in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
Sir David, 50, was knighted by King Charles III in November last year for his services to sport and charity. The former England international, Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer, grew up in Leytonstone before his footballing successes.
Footballing legend Beckham has also taken his eldest son, Romeo, to Tony’s for lunch before. The eatery has also been a haunt for TV star Danny Dyer.
