Strictly Come Dancing and The Wanted star Max George was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning, a year after receiving a pacemaker. The singer disclosed his emergency visit to A&E and posted a picture from his hospital bed. He captioned the image: “What now ffs. This s**t ALWAYS happens in the middle of the night.” He also mentioned his pitbull, Albert, adding, “Poor Albert”. Later, Max uploaded a selfie to his stories with the caption: “Running HOT.”

Just last month, Max – who rose to stardom as part of The Wanted alongside Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and the late Tom Parker – revealed he had undergone some tests following multiple heart surgeries. He had previously endured an urgent heart procedure after having a pacemaker installed in 2024. Max shared: “I am in the building where I had all my heart surgeries. I can’t say it is good to be back because it is not. I just had a scan done on my chest because I’ve had a bit of an issue with one of my lungs.”, reports the Mirror.

He added, “It should be fine. It is just a precaution.” Last November, Max shared a health update after an unexpected hospital visit. He described the situation as “scary”.

Just days before his scheduled tour last year, he was admitted to hospital and underwent MRI scans. Speaking to the Mirror from Manchester, where he was preparing for the Big Gig Performance at OVO Arena Wembley with Guides and Rangers, Max revealed: “I had an arrhythmia – the top half of my heart was doing 50, which it should, and the bottom was 160, it was out of sync.

“It was scary but I’m alright now. I needed medication and I’m on that now, as it keeps it stable.” An arrhythmia is a condition where the heart beats too fast or too slow due to disrupted signals.

He further explained: “Getting used to life that’s a little bit different. Stuff like exercise, I have to be careful doing too much because I depend on my pacemaker. I have to not damage it, doing things like football, skiing, stuff that I love doing, which is hard.”

He added: “It is what it is, you have to get on with it.” Max confessed that the entire situation was “crazy”. “It literally came out of nowhere,” he said.

“I’ve just been on this tour in America, everything was fine, and it just happened at home. It was a massive shock, and before I knew it, I was at home with a pacemaker. You don’t really have time to think about it, to be honest.”

The announcement represented a major blow for the vocalist, renowned for chart-toppers such as Walks Like Rihanna and Gold Forever, with Max desperate to return to performing at the earliest opportunity. “All I wanted to do was get back to work,” he said.

However, just when Max believed he was recovering, he faced another setback.

The performer disclosed: “I had a setback as I had to have the operation done again. It took six or seven months to heal and get used to it, but I’m not too bad now. It happened before Christmas last year, so hopefully this one there will be a little less drama!”.
