Zayn Malik appeared on Call Her Daddy on Wednesday, where he spoke about co-parenting his daughter, Khai, with Gigi Hadid. Malik and Hadid welcomed Khai in September 2020, about five years after they started dating; they broke up about a year later in 2021. On Call Her Daddy, Malik talked about how growing up working-class has affected how he raises his daughter, who was born into very different circumstances. A key difference, apparently, is tooth-fairy protocol — Malik admitted that he thinks he gave Khai “a bit too much money from the tooth fairy” when she lost her first tooth. How much, exactly? “About 500 quid.”
It sounds like Hadid was not too thrilled about the tooth fairy’s hefty payout, which is roughly $680. But Malik defended his decision. “It’s her first tooth, and her mom gave me shit about it,” he said. “And I was like, at the end of the day, like, I worked my ass off, and I should be able to give my kid what I want to give her, you know?” He did clarify that it was a onetime thing — in the future, his daughter will get $5 for any lost teeth.
Malik also revealed he has some big plans for incorporating the $680 tooth into his home décor. “The first tooth, I’m gonna keep that one and frame it,” he said. Hopefully he budgeted for the frame.
