Kaley Cuoco has opened up about her experience with Botox, which she started halfway through The Big Bang Theory.
The actress, 40, played Penny in the hit CBS comedy series, where the show follows four socially awkward friends, Leonard, Sheldon, Howard and Raj, whose lives are turned upside down when they meet the beautiful and free-spirited Penny.
It ran from 2007 to 2019, with Jim Parsons playing Sheldon, Johnny Galecki playing Leonard, Simon Helberg playing Howard and Kunal Nayyar playing Raj.
Opening up, Kaley recently admitted that her experience with Botox left her unable to move her face while trying to tell jokes as Penny during filming.

Appearing on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast with Amanda Hirsch, Kaley said: “It was deep into the show, like halfway maybe. I just wanted to do a little Botox. I did my forehead and all this stuff. And I was so excited.”
However, upon returning to set, Kaley noticed she could not move her forehead anymore, which was needed for her character and scenes on the show.
She continued: “It was the same week there is a scene where I have to, like, really do this thing with my face [and] I could not move. I was literally doing these jokes, and nothing moved. My forehead didn’t move, and it looked like I was trying to move it.”
Kaley added: “The fact that no one said anything, they probably were thinking it… I couldn’t believe how bad it looked. And that’s when I thought, ‘whoa’, like we don’t need the… let’s calm it down.”
The actress admitted that she continued to receive Botox injections but made sure her forehead was left alone. She said: “I love a little Botox”, explaining she gets it on the outside area of her eyes and on her neck.

Talking about The Big Bang Theory, Kaley admits her fiancé has never heard of or watched the TV show. Kaley announced her engagement to Ozark actor Tom Pelphrey in August 2024.
Kaley tells host Graham Norton: “He had no idea about it when we met. The first time I met Tom’s family his mom’s partner kept calling me ‘Penny’.
“I didn’t say anything because I thought it was sweet, but I could see Tom looking confused, and when we got in the car he said, ‘I am so sorry, I told him your name so I’ve no idea why he called you Penny all day.’ I had to explain it was from the show. And, he still hasn’t seen it!”

Kaley recently teased that fans might see her character Penny again. Talking to Entertainment Tonight in January, Kaley was asked if Penny will make a comeback for the upcoming Big Bang Theory spin-off series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
Kaley didn’t confirm a return but she did however widen her eyes and smile teasingly, sending fans into excitement.
The actress has previously praised the show and her character Penny for ‘changing her life’. Kaley previously recalled: “It changed my life, professionally, personally. What a journey.
“I learned so much. I met Chuck Lorre. I was a life-long lifer. Like, I don’t know. I’ll never forget my time on that show. And I do believe everything came from that.”
