During the ride’s closure, we saw crew members refreshing the ride’s exterior. Though crew said there would be a “new theme” to some elements, there were no visible exterior changes.

We also saw no changes in the queue, pre-shows, or actual ride experience. Everything was running smoothly, including the cannons that were fixed last year.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Timeline Change
BREAKING: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Park Timeline to Include All Star Wars ErasBeginning April 29, 2026, visitors to Batuu may find Darth Vader, Imperial Stormtroopers, and other iconic Star Wars characters inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., as the land expands its timeline to include more Star Wars eras. Read more about the exciting updates coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland at DisneyParksBlog.com. (Christian Thompson/Disneyland Resort)

Beginning on April 29, 2026, most of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will shift to be set during the original trilogy instead of the prequels. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and the surrounding era will remain set during the prequel era but everything else will shift earlier in time.

New storylines will be brought to life on Batuu, spanning multiple eras of the planet’s rich history. These updates will enable you to experience the Galactic Civil War and New Republic, as well as the Age of the Resistance and First Order.

Original trilogy characters like Luke and Darth Vader will roam Galaxy’s Edge. John Williams scores from the original films will play throughout the land. The Oga’s Cantina backstory will change slightly. It’s also closed for refurbishment and will reopen in March. First Order Cargo will become Black Spire Surplus.

Three people inside a spacecraft cockpit observe a fiery explosion outside while one of them points towards it. A figure in a Mandalorian suit is visible floating outside the window.

This comes right before Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run gets a new mission based on The Mandalorian & Grogu. The new mission and film debut on May 22, 2026.

The Mandalorian mission will also be available at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World, but the land’s timeline shift will not go into effect there.
