Bijou Phillips returned to social media with another heartwarming post on Saturday for her daughter, Fianna.
“Happy 12 Birthday my sweet baby!” she wrote on Instagram. “You’re an angel!”
That alone would have made for a sweet message, but with the added context of what Phillips is going through folks couldn’t help but send love. Because Phillips, 45, is going through a lot.
The popular actress and singer made that revelation in another post earlier in the week.
“I need help finding a kidney,” she posted to her Instagram along with a photo holding her daughter. “I’m asking as a friend, a sister, an aunt, and, most importantly, a single mother to an incredible and brave daughter. I am in need of a kidney.”
The post went on to explain her situation.
“I was born with underdeveloped kidneys and spent the first three months of life in the NICU on dialysis,” she wrote. “In 2017, I received the incredible gift of a kidney from a dear friend. That transplant gave me 8 precious years to be a mother to my daughter — but I have had many complications since, including the BK virus which led to both a cellular and antibody rejection. I am currently under care of Dr. Anjay Rastogi at UCLA and back on dialysis. Please help me find a living donor so that I can have more time with my daughter, family and friends. Time is of the essence.”
The post also included a link to a questionnaire for anyone interested in becoming a living donor.
Friends and fans were quick to respond with love and prayers.
“Love you love you,” Ashely Benson replied. “We are all supporting you and you are not alone.”
“Love you so much sis,” Paris Hilton replied. “Sending you so much love, light and strength.”
“Bijou!” Stacey Bendet wrote. “We are all here for you and love you so much!!!! Sharing this now!!!”
“Bijou I love you forever,” JP Drumming replied. “I will share this with some friends. You are an unstoppable warrior and you’ve got this.”
There were plenty more comments like that and you can see them as well as Phillips’ post here.
People Magazine reported that Phillips had her first transplant back in 2017.
Phillips is the daughter of singer John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas. She was married to former “That 70’s Show” star Danny Masterson, who is currently serving 30 years to life in prison after being convicted on two counts of rape.
She has a long list of television and film credits.
