Prince Harry‘s long-term intentions in Britain continue to weigh heavily on the royal family, with questions over security, legal battles, and the Invictus Games creating what one royal observer calls a genuine “conundrum” for the monarchy. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams claims that recent PR hiccups should not distract from what he believes is a far more strategic picture unfolding behind the scenes.

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s UK plans hinge on King Charles, says expert

According to GB News, Richard Fitzwilliams insists the recent controversy over celebrity party photographs should not be conflated with the Duke of Sussex’s broader ambitions in the United Kingdom. “Harry’s plans for Britain are divorced from the mistakes they made on the Kris Jenner birthday party photographs,” he said. “Now we know it was the Sussexes who asked them to be taken down by Kim Kardashian, and they should have known how that would play out.”

One of the most consequential issues remains Harry’s security arrangements in Britain. Fitzwilliams pointed to speculation that automatic police protection could be reinstated. “I’m anticipating some very interesting developments,” he said. “Sources claim he will likely get his automatic police protection, especially since he’s got a stalker, which is clearly very undesirable.”

Fitzwilliams also connected Harry’s ongoing legal action against Associated Newspapers to what he described as a larger personal objective. “Harry has got his case against the Associated Newspapers, and that’s part of his campaign to supposedly, as he sees it, clean up and reform the British tabloid press. He sees it as his life’s work.”

Fitzwilliams said the Sussexes may base their plan on whether King Charles chooses to attend future Invictus Games events. He added that the monarch could attend in different ways through a representative, by video, or in person. However, this would put “the Royal Family in a conundrum: who would attend with him and so forth.”

Critics often highlight the couple’s uneven public relations track record. However, Fitzwilliams cautioned people not to underestimate their planning. He said, “When things go well, that’s fine. When things go badly, it’s embarrassing. But they are not asleep.”
