During each port call of the training voyage, cadets take turns leading the berthing in the ports.
The 3rd Brigade (Princess Leonor's group) led the berthing of the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano in the port of Santo Domingo. The Princess of Asturias assumed the role of officer of the watch on the bridge. Under the supervision of the ship's navigation officer, the Crown Princess was in charge of the helm and engines, assisted by the other midshipmen, who supported her with data from various navigational aids, such as gyroscopic repeater bearings, radar detections, and the electronic navigation device (ECDIS) tracking.
