John Travolta is celebrating his latest birthday by soaring to new heights!
The Grease star revealed on Instagram on Wednesday, Feb. 18 that he added another pilot’s license to his impressive list of aircraft qualifications in celebration of his 72nd birthday.
In the clip he posted, he could be seen piloting the jet — a Bombardier Global Express. The video then cut to show him in the cockpit as he told the camera, “I just accomplished my license in the Global Express SIC.”
“So this is the Global Express. Take a look,” he continued in the video. The camera panned from the front of the plane to the back as Travolta said, “Congratulations to me.”

“It’s my birthday today! And I’m very proud to say I got my license in the Global Express! Thank you for all my birthday wishes!,” he captioned the video.
The Bombardier Global Express is a large cabin, long-range business jet designed and manufactured by Bombardier Aviation for luxury travel, according to Fly Blade. It can also fly up to 7,900 nautical miles.
Travolta, who is a flying enthusiast, has been a licensed pilot since he was 22-years-old and has been an ambassador for Qantas Airways since 2002. Since starting his pilot career, he has become qualified to pilot several different planes including the Boeing 747, 707 and 737.

He earned his pilot’s licence for the Boeing 737 in 2022, and celebrated the feat on Instagram, writing that he hit “a very proud moment in my aviation history.”
“To add to my 747 and 707 licenses, I just received my 737 license. And it went very well, so just sharing my moment with you,” he added in the caption of the post which showed him outside the exterior of a Boeing 737 plane.
He previously shared on Instagram where his passion for flying comes from a photo showing him as a teenager. “Throwback Thursday: When I was 15 years old, my school offered an aviation class which started my second career,” he captioned the photo.

Over the years he has shared various videos of him piloting aircraft, including in 2020 when he shared a video of himself piloting his private plane.

“It’s always exciting to get back in the air again so here I am celebrating,” the longtime flying enthusiast said in the video, adding “Yeehaw!” after showing fans the beautiful view from the cockpit.
His late wife, Kelly Preston, also previously told The Telegraph in 2018 that she and her husband “travel all the time” via his planes.
“He’s had his license for almost 30 years,” she said at the time. “At our house in Ocala, northern Florida, we have the planes parked out front because we have a runway attached. I never get nervous when John’s piloting because he’s calm in any situation and can handle the pressure. He’s flown us all over the world – Russia, South Africa, Australia, Tahiti, the UK, the U.S. and the Far East.”
