Janelle Brown is getting candid with her followers as she approaches a major milestone with her new home.
The Sister Wives star shared an update on her new North Carolina abode that she’s building on a 156-acre plot of land, which she previously purchased with her daughter Madison Brush and son-in-law Caleb Brush.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Feb. 18, Brown posed in front of her almost-finished house and wrote in the caption: “Getting closer and closer to move-in day and emotions are high here. I just can’t WAIT. 🫶🏻.”
In addition to the caption, Brown further explained what her new home means to her in white text written over each photo.
“Getting closer and closer to moving day and my heart is exploding. This home represents more than a place to live,” she began in the first slide. “It’s the first place I’ve chosen without needing agreement or permission.”
She continued, “Every decision here was mine. From the land to the layout to the timing.”
“What stopped working for me was waiting to feel ‘certain’ before committing. I had to learn to trust myself instead,” Brown explained. “The house holds proof that I can choose and support myself.”
Brown’s vulnerable post comes after the tumultuous sale of the Flagstaff, Ariz., land she previously co-owned with her former sister wives, Meri and Robyn Brown, as well as her ex-husband Kody Brown.

Alongside Meri, Janelle had previously been open about the lack of trust she felt surrounding the sale and how she felt the need to hire a lawyer. While the property was eventually sold in April 2025, the relationship between the Sister Wives stars remains tense, especially after their plural marriage fell apart.
Janelle officially left the polygamous marriage when she confirmed her split from Kody in December 2022. Her other former sister wives, Meri and Christine Brown, have also left the marriage, with Robyn being the only wife who is still married to Kody.

Janelle first told her followers about her North Carolina purchase in December 2024 and has been providing plenty of updates on the property’s development since.
“Finally putting down some permanent roots. Doesn’t look like much yet but it will 💪🏻,” she posted on Instagram at the time, alongside a video of the property’s vast greenery. “I like the wild feel that it has now and we are planning for many acres to stay that way for the benefit of the wildlife.”
She later noted that her daughter’s house would be located “maybe 100” yards away door to door, facing one another. Together, the trio — Janelle, her daughter Madison and Madison’s husband Caleb — all founded Taeda Farms, whose motto is “building beauty from the ground up.”
