Sadly, even the longest of marriages aren’t safe from bitter ends, and for high-profile personalities and celebrities like NBA players, divorce is an all too common reality.

Such was the unfortunate end to the marriage of six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen and his second ex-wife, Larsa.

Scottie and Larsa got married in 1997, but after 19 years of marriage, the former Chicago Bulls legend filed for divorce in 2016. The two briefly reconciled, and Pip withdrew his divorce petition, but Larsa filed for divorce again in 2018, with their split becoming final this time around.

“It is with deep sadness that Scottie and I announce that we are legally separating. We have both tried very hard for a long time to make our marriage work and have ultimately come to the conclusion that it is best that we live separate lives,” Larsa said in a statement to Us Magazine back when she filed for divorce.

“We have so many amazing memories together, remain best of friends and love each other very much. Our four children have always been our priority and for their sake we ask for as much privacy as possible for our family during this sensitive time,” she added.

The divorce was finalized in 2021, and the two continue to co-parent their four children.

The divorce was challenging for Larsa

And while the statement made it sound like the split went smoothly, it wasn’t without its challenges, according to Larsa, who spilled the tea on the sixth season of Real Housewives of Miami.

Larsa said that the nearly six-year divorce process took a toll on her, financially, among other things.

“When I was going through my whole divorce, for six years, I didn’t get a nickel! I had to make it on my own,” she revealed.

Larsa added that she felt trapped in her marriage to Pippen, “There’s nothing worse than being in a relationship where you can’t leave because you are financially stuck because of your partner. That’s like, the worst.”

Shortly after her divorce from Scottie was finalized, it was reported that she began dating, ironically enough, Marcus Jordan, the son of her ex-husband’s former Bulls running mate Michael Jordan. The two reportedly had an on-again-off-again relationship from 2022 to 2024.

Before that, she also reportedly dated NBA player Malik Beasley from 2020 to 2021.

Pippen’s complicated personal life

While Pippen wasn’t necessarily known for having a loud personality, it may come as a shock to most fans that Scottie was pretty “experienced,” so to speak, in terms of relationships.

He’s also had his fair share of heartache and tragedy.

The seven-time All-Star and seven-time All-NBA selection was first married in 1988 to Karen McCollum, before divorcing in 1990. They had a child together named Antron, who was born in 1987 and tragically died in 2021 at the age of 33.

Pippen went on to father twin daughters, Tyler and Taylor, in 1994 with ex-girlfriend Sonya Roby. Sadly, Tyler died nine days after birth. In 1995, Pippen fathered another daughter with ex-fiance Yvette De Leon.

With Larsa, Pippen has four more children. Their first child, Scotty Jr., was born in 2000 and has followed in his father’s NBA footsteps and is currently playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. Their second child, Preston, was born in 2002, and their third child, Justin, was born in 2005. Their fourth child, Sophia, was born in 2008.

However, even high-profile marriages can unravel in complicated ways, proving that divorce is rarely as it seems from the outside.
