The album’s lyrics explore romantic relationships, maturity, sex, and even Duff’s fraught relationship with her sister Haylie Duff.
Last month, Duff released the racy single ‘Roommates’, which featured some NSFW lyrics.
“I only want the beginning, I don’t want the end / Want the part where you say, ‘Goddamn’ / Back of the dive bar, giving you head /Then sneak home late, wake up your roommates,” she sings on the song’s chorus.
In her interview with the Los Angeles Times, Duff, who is mother to son Luca, 13, and daughters Banks Violet, 7, Mae James, 4, and Townes Meadow, 21 months. also discussed the public’s reaction to her getting older.
“People come up to me all the time and they’re like, “Wow, you aged really well.” I’m like, “I’m only 38! Just because you’ve known me since I was 9…” said Duff “When do I start getting the discounts? I feel like 38 is not old, although when I thought about my parents at 40, they looked so different than we look now.”
In a CBS Mornings appearance on Friday, Feb. 20, Duff confirmed rumors of a rift between she and sister Haylie, 41. Fans first speculated about the rift after Duff premiered a track from her new album, titled “We Don’t Talk”, at a performance in London last month.
“I’m not sure when it happened / Not even sure what it was about,” she sings on the track, which also references coming from “the same home, the same blood.” the song’s lyrics read.

Duff told host Anthony Mason that the track is indeed about her sister, and that she hesitated about releasing it.
“It’s definitely about my sister and just absolutely the most lonely part of my existence. It’s not having my sister in my life at the moment, and I really struggled with thinking about including that on the record,” said Duff.
“So many people are having this experience [of estrangement], and for me, making a record was just going to be all about connection. I was never going to take outside songs from people…what would the point be, right, if it wasn’t me and it wasn’t my my life?”
