Prince William and Kate Middleton made their first appearance since ex-Prince Andrew’s arrest, showing up at the BAFTA awards last night in matching velvet-accented looks. But apparently William was not feeling it.

The future king was asked about Hamnet while on the carpet, and said he hadn’t watched it due to being in the wrong frame of mind.
“I need to be in quite a calm state and I am not at the moment. I will save it,” he said, while Kate Middleton added that she’d seen the gut-wrenching film right before the awards show, and it left her in “floods of tears.”
“I thought it was a bad idea, actually,” she joked. “Ended up with very puffy eyes. It was so beautifully shot. The music as well. The score is fantastic.” Kate also shouted out the film’s “presentation of intergenerational grief.”
Aside from Hamnet, it doesn’t sound like Kate—or William—have seen many of this year’s nominated movies. Kate said, “We have a long list of films that we still need to get through,” while William noted that they hadn’t seen Marty Supreme, that Sinners was “a bit dark,” and that he was into One Battle After Another. Direct quote: “I have seen One Battle After Another, that was very good. We were not expecting it to start the way it did.”
Guess they have other things to worry about other than watching all the nominated movies! You know, like a disgraced senior member of the royal family being arrested.
