Tess Daly has been issued a demand by fans as she was seen sharing the screen with her husband Vernon Kay for the first time in almost 20 years.
The couple, who hail from Stockport and Bolton, were seen fronting The One Show on Wednesday night (February 25), which comes after their last major joint presenting role was the BBC singing competition, Just the Two of Us, which they co-hosted between 2006 and 2007.
And while Vernon has been seen hosting The One Show on-and-off for a number of years, it marked Tess’ return to the BBC since hosting Strictly Come Dancing for the last time.

The broadcaster and her co-host Claudia Winkleman announced their decision to quit hosting the BBC One dance show after 11 years together. They confirmed the news mid-way through the 2025 series in October, before presenting the show for the last time during the live final on December 20.
Two months on and Tess, who hosted Strictly since its inception over 21 years ago, was seen back on screen as she and Vernon stood in for The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, who were busy filming the BBC’s story-telling competition, 500 words, at Windsor Castle.
Tess, 56, joined Vernon, 51, for the one-off special, with Vernon kicking off the broadcast: “Hello everyone and welcome to your Wednesday’s One Show live on BBC One and iPlayer. There’s no Alex or Roman tonight because they’re at Windsor Castle. They’re filming the BBC’s 500 words.”

Looking towards Tess, he added: “But don’t worry because look who we have here, someone I know will definitely keep me in check… TV royalty Tess Daly.” She was quick to receivea warm applause, to which she responded: “Wow, I’m thrilled to be here, such a special show.”
They were then quick to plough on with the show, with them welcoming their guests, Hollywood stars Jessie Buckley and Maggie Gyllenhaal, plus Bridgerton stars Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha, onto the famous green sofa.
Following the show, Tess took to Instagram to mark her stint and said: “An evening at @bbctheoneshow with some incredible guests.” Claudia Winkleman was quick to respond to the post with a string of heart emojis, as were Strictly pros Karen Hauer and Nadiya Bychkova.
Meanwhile, fans were quick to show their support. @hoht_uk said: “It was so lovely to see you on the TV Tess. I let out an ‘ahhhh’ when I saw you with your lovely hubby.” @lisawittner commented: “You did great tess, hope you’ll be on again soon.” @happinessiskey858 wrote: “More of this please, you make the atmosphere so relaxed and perfect for viewers at home.”
