500 Miles, the “unforgettable” Ireland-set drama starring Bill Nighy, has received its emotional first trailer. Directed by Morgan Matthews from a screenplay by Malcolm Campbell, the upcoming film follows two young brothers as they run away from home in search of their estranged grandad.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms breakout star Dexter Sol Ansell and Jojo Rabbit actor Roman Griffin Davis play brothers Charlie and Finn, respectively, while Nighy stars as their grandfather.
Rounding out the impressive cast are Maisie Williams, Deirdre Monaghan, Loré Adewusi, Eoin Duffy, Clare Dunne and Michael Socha.
The synopsis reads: “While their fighting parents (Dunne and Socha) tear their hair out with worry, runaways Finn and his live-wire younger brother Charlie embark on an epic adventure from Yorkshire, over land and sea, to the Wild West coast of Ireland.
“With the free-spirited busker Cait (Williams) helping the young boys along the way, their destination is Dingle, County Kerry, and their estranged, beloved Grandfather, who their parents haven’t spoken to since the fateful events of the previous summer.”

500 Miles is set to premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival tomorrow, with the festival describing it as “an unforgettable journey featuring an incredible cast”.
The newly-released trailer, which describes the film as “a poetic, life-affirming road movie and celebration of the human spirit”, shows the boys as they embark on their journey.
As the trailer shows, the two young boys climb out of their bedroom window after hearing their parents argue, with Charlie saying: “What’s going on, Finn? Where are we even going?”

“We just need to get to grandad’s, he’ll know what to do,” Finn replies, with Charlie asking: “About what?”
“Keeping us together,” says Finn.
On board a train, they meet Cait, who appears to take an interest in their journey, and she is later seen joining them on a coach.
The boys make it to the Dingle Peninsula, where they are reunited with their grandfather, and the trailer ends with a montage of emotional clips.
500 Miles has yet to announce an official release date.
