THE RUNDOWN

Miranda Cosgrove has maintained a private love life over the years. The iCarly actress has been linked to a few celebrities, including former Nickelodeon stars James Maslow and Nat Wolff, but she hasn’t publicly named any of her past romantic partners. She’s opened up about her dating experiences in general and recently confirmed to People that she’s single.

Miranda Cosgrove has spent most of her life in the public eye, but she’s kept her relationships largely out of the spotlight. Over the years, the actress has been linked to a small circle of fellow Hollywood stars, mostly during her Nickelodeon era. But few of those relationships were ever confirmed.

Her earliest rumored romance dates back to iCarly, when fans speculated that she dated guest star James Maslow after the two were spotted together at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. Cosgrove later revealed that Maslow was her first-ever kiss, though it was strictly for an iCarly scene.

Around the same time, she and Nickelodeon star Nat Wolff reportedly had a connection, though that rumored relationship was never publicly addressed. A few years later, Cosgrove was quietly linked to Noah Centineo: In April 2013, the two attended a Los Angeles Lakers game together, and a couple of months later, Cosgrove posted a photo of herself and Centineo at the Despicable Me 2 premiere. However, they never confirmed whether they were dating or simply friends at the time.

In a February 2011 Seventeen cover story, Cosgrove spoke more generally about her first serious relationship. “The only serious boyfriend I’ve ever had, I met at work,” she said at the time, adding that they dated for three years. “We broke up not that long ago. He’s the one guy I really, really liked. People say they have that one person they never forget—I feel like that. Even though we don’t talk too much anymore, he’ll be the one who got away.”

While promoting her work in recent years, the actress has occasionally shared a few details about her romances and how she approaches dating. During a November 2024 appearance on The Talk, she even revealed that her type is “tall and nerdy and gangly.”

She has also leaned on longtime iCarly castmate Nathan Kress for dating advice. Speaking to People in May 2022, Kress described their dynamic as “a sibling-type relationship,” adding that they’ve had candid conversations about her dating life. The actress said she relates to her character in the iCarly reboot because they don’t “have a lot of luck in love.”

While promoting the iCarly reboot in 2022, Cosgrove told Life & Style that her character’s chaotic dating life felt pretty familiar. “My character’s always going on bad dates and doesn’t have a lot of luck in love, which is kind of similar to me in real life,” she said. “So it’s kind of fun getting to play those scenes out ’cause they’re kind of super over-the-top versions of some of my experiences.”

Cosgrove went on to describe her dating history, saying, “I always have funny, weird dating experiences.” She added, “I don’t know, maybe it’s something about living in L.A. and the way apps work and the whole thing being so strange.”

Cosgrove has previously talked about her experience with the dating app Raya.

In a May 2024 interview with Bustle, Cosgrove said she “would love to meet somebody and be in a relationship, but I’m not doing a whole lot to make that happen.” At the time, she revealed that she was on the dating app Raya, but said she rarely used it. “I sort of feel like it’s my fault because I’m not talking to people, but I barely ever even look at it,” she explained. “And when I do, I kind of just swipe. It feels almost like a game. And even when I talk to someone a little bit, it doesn’t really turn into meeting up.”

She also reflected on how her taste in partners might play a role. “I always go for like really thin and nerdy,” Cosgrove said, joking that her two serious exes “weren’t people who could ever survive if there was an apocalypse.”

The actress then revealed the type of partner her father wants her to be with. “In my dad’s mind, the perfect guy for me would be somebody kind of like in The Notebook. You know how Ryan Gosling’s character, Noah, basically built an entire house? My dad would love Ryan Gosling in that movie for me,” she said, adding with a laugh, “When I got into my last relationship, I remember telling him, ‘I really like this guy, and I think I’m maybe going to end up with him.’ And my dad was like, ‘What can he build?’”

She confessed that she used a co-star to make an unnamed ex jealous.

Cosgrove opened up about a classic post-breakup move while promoting her 2025 film The Wrong Paris. During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show that September, she admitted that she used her co-star Pierson Fodé to make an ex jealous. “[Pierson is] just, he’s so cute it’s crazy,” she said, explaining that she had gone through a breakup before filming the movie. Although she and Fodé were not dating, she said that she posted him on social media knowing it would “really upset my ex.”

In September 2025, Cosgrove confirmed that she’s single and shared how she imagines she’ll meet a partner.

Despite her mixed experiences, Cosgrove has remained open to the idea of finding love, though she’s not aggressively pursuing it. In a September 2025 interview with People, she confirmed that she was single and “not really working that hard at” changing that.

She admitted that she still holds onto a romantic fantasy. “I feel like I need to try a little harder,” she said. “I’m sort of one of those crazy people that thinks I’m just going to run into somebody at a coffee shop…I wish [meet-cutes] were real. I’m sure it happens sometimes. It has to have happened to someone out there, right?”
