The BRIT Awards took place tonight, but who managed to scoop up the legendary prizes? The star-studded event returned in all its glory for another year, this time at the other end of the M62 held at Manchester’s Co-Op Live. The biggest homegrown stars and international artists have come together for a glamorous evening filled with live performances and iconic moments.

There are 16 awards up for grabs, including major honours such as Artist of the Year, Mastercard Album of the Year and Group of the Year, alongside a range of genre-based awards.

Comedian and writer Jack Whitehall has returned to present the show, this time in Manchester, after hosting the ceremony in London for the past five years.

Winners across all categories will receive the iconic BRITs trophy, which this year has been designed by Manchester-born designer Matthew Williamson, drawing inspiration from his connection to the city.

Mark Ronson received the Outstanding Contribution to Music award, while Noel Gallagher was honoured as Songwriter of the Year. PinkPantheress was the recipient of this year’s Producer of the Year award.

Artist of the year looks to be a tough category, with the likes of Olivia Dean, Sam Fender and Lilly Allen all up for the prestigious prize. In terms of Song of the year, Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Clementine Douglas, and Cynthia Erivo are all fighting for the top spot.

The ceremony is broadcast on ITV1 at 8.15pm until 10.45pm.

The ECHO will keep this page updated as each winner is announced.
