Neve Campbell has revealed an iconic role she turned down earlier in her career. The actor, who is famous for playing another iconic character, Scream’s Sidney Prescott, shared that she was offered the role of Lara Croft in 2001’s Tomb Raider.
Speaking to Buzzfeed, Campbell shared: “I turned down Lara Croft.
“You make the choices that you make at the time. But certain ones I wasn’t available for, as well.
“I was so busy during Party Of Five, that took up 10 months of my year for six years. But listen, I’m grateful for everything that I’ve had.”
The role eventually went to Angelina Jolie, who also starred in sequel Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life in 2003.

Croft would be brought back to the big screen in 2018 with Alicia Vikander taking over the role in reboot Tomb Raider.
Sophie Turner is currently filming a new Tomb Raider series for Prime Video, with Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge as showrunner.
Campbell also revealed she was cast in 2001’s Pearl Harbour alongside Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett.
The actress shared: “I went in, I kicked ass on that audition.
“I learned Japanese – I had my lines translated, and I went in and spoke Japanese in the audition. And I got it! But I couldn’t do it. And I worked really hard!”

Campbell can currently be seen in Scream 7 which hit UK cinemas last week.
The film sees Campbell return to the franchise as Sidney Prescott after having turned down a role in Scream VI over a pay dispute.
The latest entry in the slasher series sees Sidney, having built a new life for herself away from Woodsboro, have to protect her daughter from a new Ghostface.
Unfortunately, the film has received mostly negative reviews from critics and currently holds a 34% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the lowest-rated entry in the franchise.
Digital Spy gave the film just two stars, writing: “The elements were there for Scream 7 to be a classic Scream movie.
“But unfortunately what we’re left with is a sequel that is repetitive, bland and ultimately generic, possibly the worst thing for a Scream movie to be.”
