Awards watchers turned their attention with bated breath to the Producers Guild of America Awards, one of the strongest indicators of where the race for Best Picture at the Academy Awards stands, and if One Battle After Another hadn’t already proven its status as a frontrunner, it left little doubt after tonight.

While the PGA Awards honored the achievements of producers across media, it’s the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures that inevitably draws the most eyeballs. The award, chosen from a field of 10 films through a preferential ballot, is an honor that replicates the Best Picture vote most closely in format and has predicted the previous five winners of the Oscars’ top prize.

With the win, Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest is now an even firmer favorite at the Academy Awards on March 15. The same is true for tonight’s winner of Best Animated Feature, KPop Demon Hunters, which continued its streak of prizes in the category. Both lead their respective races at the Oscars, per Gold Derby prediction data.

One disconnect between the PGA Awards and Oscars will be in the Best Documentary race. The guild went with My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay, which wasn’t even nominated at the Academy Awards.

On the TV side, the producers largely rubber-stamped recent winners from the Emmys and Golden Globes — honoring The Studio in Best Comedy Series, Adolescence in Best Limited/Anthology Series, and The Pitt in Best Drama Series.
