Michelle Williams Breaks Silence on James Van Der Beek’s Death | Actor Awards 2026
Michelle Williams remembered her late ‘Dawson’s Creek’ costar James Van Der Beek, who died Feb. 11 at 48 following a battle with colorectal cancer, at the 2026 Actor Awards. “I’m thinking about him,” Michelle told ‘Entertainment Tonight’ after winning Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for her work in Dying for Sex, “and I’m thinking about his family constantly.” She added, “It’s been such an amazing thing, as James’s friend and a friend of the family, to see the response in the wake of his passing.” Ten months before James’ passing, Michelle shared that she was “absolutely” supporting her former castmate amid his health battle through regular communication.
