Plans for the closing segment of the March 2 episode of Monday Night Raw may have changed.

Earlier in the day, reports indicated that Dominik Mysterio vs. Penta for the Intercontinental Championship was scheduled to headline the show. However, a new update suggests that the final segment was actually set to feature Roman Reigns and CM Punk — not the Intercontinental Title bout.

According to Fightful Select, the confrontation between Reigns and Punk was scheduled to go on last, signaling WWE’s intent to close the show with major WrestleMania 42 implications rather than a championship match.

That’s a significant shift in focus. Dominik vs. Penta was previously believed to be the main event, especially given that it marks Dominik’s first Intercontinental Title defense since returning from injury. But if Reigns and Punk are closing the night, it suggests WWE is prioritizing the World Heavyweight Championship storyline heading into WrestleMania.

Reigns is set to return on this episode following Punk’s successful Elimination Chamber title defense against Finn Bálor. With tensions already simmering between the two, placing their segment in the final slot elevates the importance of whatever unfolds.

Raw remains loaded from top to bottom, with The Vision reportedly opening the show, GUNTHER vs. Dragon Lee expected early, Liv Morgan set to speak after choosing Stephanie Vaquer for WrestleMania 42, and Adam Pearce addressing Seth Rollins’ return. But if the Fightful report holds, the true main event of the evening won’t be a match — it’ll be Reigns and Punk sharing the ring.

With conflicting reports emerging throughout the day, it appears WWE may have adjusted plans behind the scenes.
