Todd Meadows has died
A television star has sadly died. Todd Meadows – who appeared on Discovery Channel show Deadliest Catch – has died aged 25.
Captain Rick Shelford announced the tragic news on his social media account to his 19,000 followers.
He wrote: “February 25, 2026 was the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea. We lost our brother, Todd Meadows. Todd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family, The Mirror reports.
“His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always.”
In the lengthy tribute, he added: “Todd’s love for his children, his family, and his life was evident in everything he did. He worked hard, loved deeply, and brought joy to those around him. Right now, our hearts are broken in a way that words can’t fully express.
“We ask that you lift Todd’s children and family in prayer and keep them in your thoughts as they face the days ahead without him. Todd will forever be part of this boat, this crew, and this brotherhood. Though we lost him far too soon, his legacy will live on through his children and in every memory we carry of him. Rest easy brother, till we meet again.”
TMZ reports that Todd died in a fishing-related incident whilst filming the popular show. In a statement, a spokesperson for Discovery Channel said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Todd Meadows. This is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with his loved ones, his crewmates, and the entire fishing community during this incredibly difficult time.”
Tributes have continued to flood in for Todd, including from his grandmother. She wrote: “We thank you for honouring Todd with this heartfelt tribute. It is true, he was beloved by many, his reach was broad. He will be forever grieved & missed.”
Another tribute read: “Such a handsome hardworking man, thank you for giving him the opportunity to live out his dream even though it was short lived. We will miss him so so much,” with a third saying: “Rest in peace Todd. So sorry for everybody’s loss. This is such a tragedy and saddens so many of us. Prayers for Todd’s family and all his close friends.”
Another relative wrote: “Our hearts are completely shattered and still trying to process it all. Thank you all for loving Todd and taking care of him. I’ll do whatever I can to keep his memory alive within my grandson’s. We miss him dearly.”
