Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have made a massive real estate purchase in Florida, according to multiple reports.

Zuckerberg and Chan have locked in a $170 million deal for an under-construction mansion in Miami’s exclusive Indian Creek island community, otherwise known as “Billionaire Bunker.” Other high-profile celebrities with homes in the private village include Tom Brady, Jeff Bezos and Carl Icahn.

New home sets local record

According to the Wall Street Journal, Zuckerberg and Chan’s purchase is a new record for Miami-Dade County and one of the most expensive in American history.

The Florida record is $225 million for a waterfront compound in Naples, set last year, while the current U.S. high mark is held by billionaire Ken Griffin’s $238 million New York apartment, purchased in 2019.

The house, which is still being built, sits on 1.84 acres of land and was commissioned by plastic surgeon Dr. Aaron Rollins and his wife, real estate agent Marine Rollins, back in 2020. The couple put the property on the market last year for $200 million.

“The Rollinses paid more than $30 million for the roughly 2-acre site in 2020, and have spent years designing and building the limestone mansion,” the WSJ said. “Plans called for a nine-bedroom home measuring about 30,000 square feet with a dock and swimming pool. Amenities were to include a gym, hair salon and massage room, as well as a 1,500-gallon aquarium and a library with a secret passageway.”

More details on Zuckerberg’s monumental buy

The listing brokers for the property, located at 7 Indian Creek, were a mother-son team, Jill and Daniel Hertzberg of Coldwell Banker. Brett Harris of Bespoke represented the buyers.

Architecture, interior and landscape designs were all handled by Ferris Rafauli.

Zuckerberg and Chan own property all over the United States, including Silicon Valley, Hawaii, Lake Tahoe and Washington, D.C. They previously sold their San Francisco home for $31 million in 2014.
