Two years later, the Sussex couple quit their royal life for a new one in America. But their departure led to a downgrade of their armed protection while in the UK, the status of which is being reassessed.

However, Harry’s concerns about his wife’s security went even deeper, with the Duke allegedly demanding publicly funded security for Meghan while they were still dating.

But he was said to have been left “incredulous” after he was denied it, until they were both formally engaged.

The Duchess of Sussex became the target of media scrutiny when she first started a relationship with her now-husband.

As per RadarOnline, a new biography by the Mirror’s royal editor, Russell Myers, alleges that Harry sought security for Meghan when she was still a working actress in Suits. William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story recounts how the rift between the Sussexes and the Firm unfolded.

The author claimed that Harry saw the denial of security for Meghan as “inconsistent” and compared it to the way Princess Catherine was handled, who did receive guidance and support when she was in a relationship with Prince William.

The Princess of Wales was given full protection when her engagement to William was announced in 2010.

But Harry allegedly thought there was “one rule for him and another for me” and asked the King and his brother to intervene.

A royal source said: “Security for the royals has always been a government matter, not something individual family members can simply demand. Harry’s frustration was understandable on a personal level, but the system operates within strict protocols.”

Another insider added: “From Harry’s perspective, he believed Meghan was being exposed to unacceptable risks, even in the early days of their courtship.

“But from the Royal Family’s perspective, there were strict procedures that had to be followed when it came to getting her security. That gap in expectation widened into something far more serious.”
