Marvel Studios will reportedly address one complaint leveled at Thunderbolts* in Avengers: Doomsday. New rumors suggest that a fan-favorite character will finally receive the cinematic treatment fans have been waiting for, potentially transforming one of the MCU’s most controversial debuts into a triumphant comeback story.
Sentry rumored to play a ‘crazy’ role in Avengers: Doomsday’s final battle
When Lewis Pullman debuted as Bob Reynolds—the man holding the cosmic power of both Sentry and the destructive Void—in Thunderbolts*, audiences left theaters with mixed feelings. While Pullman’s performance was lauded, many felt the character’s immense power was barely tapped until the film’s closing moments.
That brief fight sequence felt more like a teaser than a proper introduction, and when the battle shifted to the Void, even that confrontation lacked substantial action. The complaint was consistent: we didn’t get enough Sentry.
Per industry scooper My Time To Shine Hello, who posted on X, “Sentry’s role in the final act is CRAZY.” If accurate, this suggests Marvel heard the feedback. Rather than repeating the Thunderbolts* approach where Sentry exits early, Avengers: Doomsday appears positioned to let the character shine in full glory during the climactic confrontation.
Pullman himself has offered encouraging words about the ensemble experience. In an interview with Esquire, the actor addressed concerns that Doomsday might become another cameo-heavy spectacle: “Every character has their moment that builds the dimensions of them. The Russo brothers did that so well. They do not want anyone just sitting in the background. They really took to heart the responsibility of having some of the best actors in the world all together.”
The actor teased exciting character interactions, quipping, “There’s a lot of really exciting pair-ups that happen. A lot of fans will be really excited. It’s so fun to dream about. What if A and B would work together? Would B and D would work together? You get to see a lot of those fantasies come into fruition.”
Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on December 18, 2026, and, if these rumors are true, fans can expect the Sentry they’ve been waiting to see.
