Tensions between the royal family and Prince Harry have been simmering for a number of years. While Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down from their role at working royals back in 2020 and moved to the States, reports have stated that Harry and his brother Prince William haven’t spoken for quite some time.

However, it seems that it wasn’t just his older brother that was worried about his relationship with the American actress as an explosive new book has claimed that Queen Camilla shared her concerns with a friend, where she allegedly said that Prince Harry had been “brainwashed” by Meghan.

The bombshell comment was allegedly made once the Duke of Sussex started battling the views of his family. At the time, Harry was said to have clashed with his brother and wife Princess Kate, who were reported to have raised concerns about the relationship, reports the Mirror.

This is just one of a series of claims that can be found in Tom Bower’s book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family. Elsewhere in the book, the royal author alleges that Meghan was seen to snap at William during a meeting.

In what was intended to be a meeting to reconcile their differences, Meghan is claimed to have furiously said to her brother-in-law: “If you don’t mind, get your finger out of my face.” Bower wrote that this teatime meeting quickly “spun out of control”.

It was noted that William and Kate were unhappy with Harry when he decided to cut off his friends after he started dating the Suits star, with the author claiming that they considered Meghan to be a threat to the royal family.

During the meeting between the brothers and wives that went very wrong, the book says that Harry had watched confrontation escalate, with William allegedly stating that his brother’s relationship had “gone too quickly”.

The couple first started dating in 2016, before getting married in 2018. The Sussexes now live in California with their two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

The book goes on to say: “The Cambridges believed that Meghan was not reconciled to what was deemed her destiny in London. She, they thought, lamented Harry’s unlikely chances of one day being king, just as she regretted the possibility that she would never be the queen.”

Bower also claims that from early on in Meghan and Harry’s relationship, the younger prince was heavily influenced by what his future wife wanted.

He wrote: “William’s original fears were soon realised. Meghan had become a divisive agent. To please her, Harry was ignoring his old friends. He even changed his telephone number without telling his family.”

This new book comes four years after Bower published an unauthorised book on Harry and Meghan in 2022, which was based on extensive research and insider interviews to detail the couple’s relationship and conflicts in the Royal Family.

Describing the insight of his old book, he wrote: “Four years ago, Revenge, my book about the Sussexes’ war against the Windsors, exposed the truth about Meghan’s past.

“It revealed how she had ditched her family, friends and others to become famous. Since then, she has separated herself from Harry except seemingly when a joint appearance would enrich her publicity.”

To discover more of the bold claims in Tom Bower’s book on the royal family, it is currently being serialised in The Times magazine.
